Members-at-Large Nominee: Rebecca Lewis, AuD, PhD
Rebecca “Becky” Lewis, AuD, PhD, ABA Certified, is a forward-thinking audiologist, researcher, and leader committed to advancing the profession through professional development, technological integration, and innovative program creation. As chief of audiology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), she oversees a growing division across multiple locations, where she champions the evolution of comprehensive audiological services through quality improvement initiatives and expanded access to care for adult and pediatric services, from diagnostics to hearing aids to cochlear implants.
Dr. Lewis’s leadership focuses on preparing audiologists for future challenges through skill development and adaptability. Her work emphasizes patient-centered outcomes and standardization of clinical processes, particularly in hearing aid and cochlear implant services as well as health equity initiatives. She consistently integrates emerging technologies and interdisciplinary approaches to create practical, data-driven solutions that enhance both patient experience and professional growth opportunities.
An active leader with the American Academy of Audiology for six consecutive years, Dr. Lewis has demonstrated her commitment to professional advancement by improving educational resources and certification pathways. Most recently, she collaborated with the members of the Professional Development Council to establish the “Beyond the Booth” series, which equips audiologists with versatile skills applicable across evolving practice settings. Her dedication to mentorship and teaching helps prepare the next generation of audiologists to lead in a rapidly changing health-care landscape.
Known for her collaborative, growth-oriented approach, Becky builds bridges between clinical operations, academic research, public outreach, and professional development initiatives. Whether developing competency-based training programs, designing multilingual patient education tools, or implementing new clinical technologies, she brings a commitment to continuous improvement and fostering leadership at all career stages.
Outside of work, Becky enjoys restorative yoga, exploring new approaches to familiar food and beverage, and spending time with her partner and their dog in one of the many parks in San Francisco.
