AAA 2020 + HearTECH Expo
Saturday, April 4, 8:00-11:00 am
Organized by CAPCSD and the Academy’s Academic Programs Committee, in collaboration with ACAE.
Clinical preceptors are crucial to the education of future audiologists. The responsibility is rewarding, yet challenging when trying to balance your own clinical obligations. How do we maintain meaningful mentorship even in the sticky situations? Difficult situations regarding professionalism and clinical care inevitably emerge.
This forum will provide guidance on how to engage in conversations when issues arrive. Keynote speaker, Dr. Elaine Mormer, the 2020 recipient of the Academy’s Outstanding Educator Award, will discuss appropriate assessment and feedback in audiology clinical education. Dr. Mormer will also lead small group discussions on how to have difficult conversations with families.
Finally, a panel of representative from various well-established externship programs will answer questions and offer insights about the logistics of a successful externship program and giving students feedback.
