Members-at-Large Nominee: Bre Myers, AuD, PhD

From the beginning, Bre Myers, AuD, PhD, professional journey has been filled with adaptations and taking advantage of opportunities, all while keeping course towards her goals. She completed her bachelor’s and master’s in audiology at Bloomsburg University, at the time when many institutions were transitioning from master’s level to the clinical doctorate. After graduation, she began her career working as a staff audiologist in an ENT office. As soon as she was qualified, she enrolled in the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now Salus at Drexel University) Distance AuD Program, founded by George Osborne. The program inspired her and a coworker to open their own private practice, which they achieved in 2007–2008. While growing her practice, Dr. Myers worked as an independent consultant for the Veteran’s Hospital and served as an adjunct professor teaching vestibular science courses at Salus University. She became active and held board positions including secretary and president, in the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology.

It was through her work as an adjunct faculty that she discovered her true passion for teaching others, and her desire to learn more while contributing to research efforts in the field. After much deliberation, she decided to leave her private practice in 2013, enroll in Salus’ PhD program, and transition to a full-time faculty appointment. In her current role as an associate professor and assistant dean her time is split between lecturing in the classroom, instructing hands on skills, participating in research projects, directing patient care while supervising students, and assisting the administration of the program. She is also actively involved in Salus’ faculty senate and currently holds the position of senate president. This position holds unique challenges as Salus is in transition to merge with Drexel University.

In addition to her state level professional service, Dr. Myers has a steadfast history of volunteering with the Academy. She has served and held leadership positions where help was needed. These include the Political Action Committee (2009–2014), Conference Outreach Committee (2013–2016), ABA Practice Analysis Committee Task Force (2013–2014), Audiology Today as Associate Editor (2017–2024), Leadership Development Committee (2018–2022), Conference Program Committee (2023–2025, chair 2024) Guidelines for Vestibular Diagnostics Writing Group (2022–Present), and the ABA Vestibular Specialty Certificate Development Group (2024–Present).

The variety of her professional experiences, participation in a diversity of committees, and continued leadership roles make her well-suited to be an effective board member who will give voice and consideration to audiologists representing the many facets of work settings.
