Jenne L. Tunnell, AuD, PASC, is a board-certified audiologist with more than 25 years of clinical, leadership, and advocacy experience in hearing and vestibular healthcare. She currently serves as an audiologist with Indian Health Services at the White Earth Service Unit, where she provides comprehensive audiologic care and works to expand community access to hearing and balance services through education and outreach.
Dr. Tunnell previously served for 20 years as audiology manager for Mayo Clinic Health System in Southwest Minnesota. Her clinical specialization includes pediatric audiology, cochlear implants, and vestibular and balance assessment. Throughout her career, she has been committed to aligning best practices across health systems, mentoring future audiologists, and advancing elevated standards of care.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Tunnell held leadership roles internationally, including chief audiologist at the National University Hospital of Singapore, where she established the hospital’s first universal newborn hearing screening program and developed a comprehensive pediatric diagnostic and rehabilitative clinic. She has also served as acting head audiologist at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Tunnell earned her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in Audiology from Western Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Western Washington University. She holds ABA Board Certification in Audiology and a Pediatric Audiology Specialty Certification.
A dedicated leader within the profession, Dr. Tunnell is a past chair of the American Academy of Audiology’s Professional and Academic Standards Council, past president of the Audiology Practice Standards Organization (APSO), and former chair of the American Board of Audiology. She has also served in numerous state and national leadership roles and remains active in public health initiatives, including newborn screening and cCMV advocacy.
Dr. Tunnell is the co-host of the weekly podcast Doctoring the Truth, which explores healthcare, ethics, and patient safety. She is passionate about advancing the scope of audiology, strengthening educational alignment for future clinicians, and promoting equitable, evidence-based hearing and balance care across the lifespan.
