Mary Lynn J. Rynkiewicz currently serves as Senior Director of Communications for the American Academy of Audiology, where she is executive editor of Audiology Today and directs all external communications, including the website, social media, and marketing materials. Previously, as Director of Communications for the Future Business Leaders of America, she edited the association’s award-winning flagship magazine, oversaw webinars, videos, and publications, and reinvigorated a weeklong series of events promoting servant leadership for the association’s 200,000 student members.
Prior to that, she taught English at Hayfield Secondary School, a public school in Fairfax County, Virginia. Rynkiewicz also served as Director of Communications for the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, where she managed events featuring members of Congress and governors throughout the country and directed media relations for the Arsenal of Democracy World War II flyover in Washington, DC on the 70thanniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
Rynkiewicz began her career as a reporter and editor at The Hill newspaper. She also worked for The American Prospect and Presstime, the magazine of the Newspaper Association of America. A guest on NPR, MSNBC, Fox, and The McLaughlin Group, her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and other publications.
Rynkiewicz earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Wellesley College and her master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. She resides in Annandale, Virginia, with her husband Peter, an environmental engineer, and their three pets.
