Charge Description

  • Actively recruit candidates to run for Academy Board of Directors’ positions with attention to increasing the number of nominations, improving the quality and diversity of nominations, and meeting the identified composition of skills and perspectives among board members that are needed to advance the Academy’s strategic priorities.
  • Communicate opportunities for board positions and the roles and responsibilities.
  • Evaluate nominations received for the Academy board using a combination of objective and subjective assessment measures. The focus of the evaluation will be on the candidate’s experience and qualifications to hold a leadership role in the Academy.
  • Report to the Academy board a competitive slate of nominees for the annual election.
  • Regularly evaluate candidate assessment measures and recommend enhancements to the Academy board.
  • Cultivate a welcoming environment that values the diversity of people and perspectives in approaching the activities of the committee.
