October is National Audiology Awareness Month! This is a great time to promote good hearing and balance health, as well as promoting our profession to others.
For example, the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech shared a podcast and an article about some of the work that educational audiologists do to support students with hearing loss.
The Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) will be hosting the seventh year of its “Ask Me About Audiology Campaign” (AMAA) October 18-23, 2021. SAA chapters across the nation have held local AMAA events, such as passing out earplugs at sporting events, setting up a booth in a farmer’s market, and conducting interviews of SAA members for a social media series! The campaign seeks to empower students to educate members of the local community about hearing healthcare, the impact of hearing loss/noise exposure, and the profession of audiology.
What are you doing for National Audiology Awareness Month? We would love to hear about your activities. Still not sure yet? Needing ideas on how to spread the word and/or resources to assist you in this endeavor? If so, the American Academy of Audiology has you covered. Make sure to check out our images, fact sheets, press releases, materials for kids and young adults, and more resources.
