The American Academy of Audiology is and will continue to be dedicated to advancing inclusion within our organization and the broader field of audiology. In keeping with the increasing diversity of our patient population, we are committed to enhancing our workforce to reflect better this dynamic landscape.
Our initiatives focus on expanding recruitment efforts to encourage students from diverse backgrounds to explore and pursue careers in audiology. We believe that increasing awareness and accessibility in our field is vital, and we are actively engaging in outreach presentations to inform the general public about the importance of audiology services.
The strength of the Academy lies in the varied expertise, experience, and perspectives of our workforce, which fuels our mission to promote inclusivity, but above all, justice in our actions, initiatives, and policies. Together, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that benefits our members and delivers the best outcomes for the patients we serve. We stand united in our efforts to ensure that diversity is woven into the fabric of our organization and the audiology professionals we represent.
The Academy is not alone in this endeavor. Other organizations, such as the American Medical Association (AMA), American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), have already made statements of continuing support for their respective initiatives and policies.
Together, with the multitude of medical professional organizations, we stand united in our continued support of inclusive initiatives that render the best outcomes for our providers and the patients we serve.
