On March 21, Governor Ron DeSantis signed components of the 2024 “Live Healthy” legislation package designed to “bolster Florida’s health-care workforce, broaden access to quality health care, and foster innovation in the industry.”
S.B. 7016 was a large bill included in the successful package that comprised the necessary implementing language for the Audiology and Speech Language Pathology Licensure Compact (ASLP-IC). The ASLP-IC is a cooperative agreement enacted into law by participating states to facilitate the interstate practice of audiology and speech-language pathology while maintaining public protection.
A compact commission is currently working to fully “operationalize” the necessary data system and integrate member states. It is currently anticipated that applications for compact privileges will open in late 2024 to early 2025.
