Last week, the Academy submitted a letter to Chairperson Kimberly Poore Moser, head of the Kentucky House Health Services Committee, urging immediate action on Senate Bill 93 (SB 93) before the session adjourns. This legislation aims to expand hearing aid coverage and improve consumer protections from third-party administrators for Kentucky residents. To ensure timely action, the Academy launched a voter voice campaign, urging Kentucky residents to contact their representatives and advocate for the bill’s passage out of committee, aiming to get it to the governor’s desk before the end of March.
The Academy strongly supports SB 93, viewing it as a crucial step to improving health equity and access to hearing-health care. By broadening access to hearing aids and removing financial barriers, particularly for children, the bill ensures families receive timely care without added out-of-pocket costs. The Academy urges the committee to act quickly to advance this important legislation.
