On Monday, January 20th at 12:00 pm ET, Donald Trump was sworn into office as the 47th President of the United States. The Republican majority in Congress will now begin its work on the president’s agenda, which includes confirming his cabinet selections and other legislative priorities.
As of this week, no hearings have been scheduled for any of the Health and Human Services, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or National Institute of Health administration positions. The president’s first day was spent signing myriad executive orders, including one that rescinded a Biden Administration executive order to test Medicare and Medicaid models that could lower health-care costs, and another that withdrew the United States from the World Health Organization.
The Academy will continue to monitor and push for the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act legislation to be reintroduced and to find new legislative and regulatory ways to support audiologists.
