Below are answers to the questions we hear most often about renewing your Academy membership, including this year’s dues adjustment, payment options, and available discounts.
Additional questions or requests for assistance can be emailed to the membership department.
Membership Dues & Value
Why are membership dues increasing this year?
Dues are being adjusted to support expanded member benefits, enhanced professional resources, and new initiatives that strengthen your growth as an audiologist. This increase ensures we can continue delivering high‑quality services that you expect and deserve.
How will this increase benefit me as a member?
The adjustment strengthens our ability to invest in the resources and initiatives that directly support you and the profession. It allows us to continue expanding offerings such as:
- The LEAP leadership series
- The new General Audiology Board Certification
- Members only toolkits
- The forthcoming 2026 compensation and benefits survey
- Leadership development opportunities through volunteering and JFLAC
These offerings reflect our commitment to strengthening the profession and delivering meaningful value to our members.
How much is the increase?
Dues have been modestly adjusted across all member categories. Exact amounts for each category are listed on the Membership Dues web page.
Renewing Your Membership
When does my membership expire?
Your membership runs on a calendar year, January-December. You’ll receive renewal reminders via email as your due date approaches (January 1). To ensure you receive communications, log on to your member dashboard and update your profile/communication preferences.
How do I renew?
Once renewals are open, visit our Renewal web page, log in with your Academy username and password, and follow the prompts. Renewing takes less than two minutes.
If you are enrolled in Yearly EZ Pay, your membership renewal will be processed the first week in December. You will receive a notification email prior to being charged.
If you are enrolled in Monthly EZ Pay, your membership is charged month-to-month. In December, dues are charged twice—once for December and once for January. You will receive a notification email prior to being charged each time.
All other financial arrangements can be addressed on a case-by-case basis by Academy staff. Email membership@audiology.org to learn more about possible options.
Renewing is also a great time to review and update your member profile so your benefits and communications stay aligned with your needs.
What happens if I don’t renew?
You’ll lose access to advanced learning opportunities, clinical resources, member‑exclusive benefits and discounts, advocacy alerts, and your professional community.
Are there discounted rates?
We offer reduced rates for students, new professionals, retired audiologists, and more.
We also offer monthly and annual payment plans and assistance through our Member Support Program.
Visit the membership dues web page or contact the membership department to learn about the options available to you.
More About Your Membership
Can I get a refund for my membership dues?
Membership dues are non‑refundable, except when a pending or current member demonstrates an extenuating circumstance.
To request a refund:
- Submit the Academy Membership Dues Refund Request Form within 30 days of payment.
- Monthly EZ Pay subscribers may request a refund within 5 days of payment.
After your request is submitted, Academy staff will review your information and provide a status update. Approved refunds are subject to a 10% processing fee based on the total refund amount.
What happens when my membership type changes?
Membership type changes can happen automatically or by request, depending on the type.
Automatic changes
Student members move through the New Professional Pathway based on graduation year and renewal cycles:
- September of graduating year: Student → New Professional 1
- Following renewal cycles: New Professional 1 → New Professional 2 → New Professional 3 → Professional Member
These changes occur automatically when annual renewals are processed.
Changes that require a member request
Some membership types such as Life Member or Retired Member do not change automatically. To request a membership type change, contact the Academy’s membership department.
Requests approved between September–February will be applied to the current membership year. Requests approved March–August will be applied to the next membership year.
Can I add a donation to my membership renewal?
Yes. We accept donations to the AAA Foundation with your online membership renewal.
Contributions to the Academy PAC can be made separately and are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.
Can my employer pay for my membership?
Absolutely. Many places of employment cover professional association dues. We can provide documentation upon request. Email membership@audiology.org for assistance.
Are CEUs required to renew my membership?
No. The Academy does not require CEUs to renew or maintain your membership.
As part of your member benefits, you have complimentary access to the Academy’s CE Registry.
