Lu Beck Receives Howard E. “Rocky” Stone Humanitarian Award

Beck, PhD, a founding Academy member, is currently the deputy chief patient care services officer for Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Services in the Office of Patient Care Services, Veterans Health Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Dr. Beck received the Howard E. "Rocky" Stone Humanitarian Award at the Hearing Loss Assocation of America's (HLAA) recent convention in Washington, DC. NAS Report on Hearing Care for Adults

On June 2, 2016, the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS; formerly the Institute of Medicine) issued a report on the access and affordability of hearing care for adults. This report is the output of a 17-member scientific and professional committee, and it is NOT the same as the 2015 report issued by the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). 

Today’s NAS report presents 12 recommendations for improving access to hearing health care.
